Cheap international calls: Buddhist remains uncovered in Afghanistan

War-torn Afghanistan has once again made headlines, but not for all the wrong reasons.
To the south of Kabul, archaeologists have discovered Buddhist remains dating back to the fifth century AD, while some objects could be even from the prehistoric era before Christ.
The find was made in the Aynak region in the Logar province close to the Chinese copper ore mine. It measures an impressive 12km.
Those with family and friends in Afghanistan can surely make cheap international calls to learn more about these discoveries.
Speaking to Reuters, Mohammad Nader Rasouli, head of the Afghan Archaeological Department, said: "There is a temple, stupas, beautiful rooms, big and small statues, two with the length of seven and nine meters, colourful frescos ornamented with gold and some coins."
Although unharmed by the nearby mining activities, the excavation site was sadly looted and damaged by smugglers before government officials could take charge of the ruins last year.
