Women in Afghanistan protest against 'rape law'

A group of around 200 women have staged a protest in Afghanistan against a new law which they say legalises rape within marriage.
The women shouted slogans and carried banners as they walked through the streets of Kabul to voice their anger about the Shia Family Law which was passed last month.
Human rights campaigners have argued that the new legislation effectively permits rape within marriage and prohibits women from going out in public without the permission of their husbands.
As the women marched in the capital, an opposing group emerged and chanted anti-Western slogans at the women, according to reports.
Meanwhile, an explosion has taken place on a boat travelling off the coast of Australia which was reported to be carrying 49 asylum seekers from Afghanistan.
Local Australian navy officers are said to have been escorting the vessel to a detention centre on Christmas Island when the incident occurred.
