UK universities 'recruiting more international students'

The number of foreign students being accepted by British universities is continuing to increase, it has been reported.
With many institutions now keen to boost their revenues by taking on non-UK students, new research carried out by the Telegraph has found that around one in three universities will take on more students from outside of the European Union this year than they did in 2009.
Indeed, while there is a cap on the number of EU students a university can recruit, they can take on as many non-EU students as they wish.
And, far from just the smaller or newer institutions taking on foreigners, a number of older and larger universities, including Cardiff, Reading and Oxford are similarly boosting the number of overseas students they take onto their books, the newspaper's research also found.
Professor David Green, vice-chancellor of the University of Worcester, explained: "We now have a situation where a student from, say Turkey or Brazil, who is willing to pay the fee, can be accepted.
"We are a diverse university and take students from all over the world, and that will continue."

This comes soon after the latest figures from UCAS pointed to a 22.9 per cent increase in applications to UK universities over the past year.
