Edinburgh Festival is a 'must-see' for culture

The vibrant Edinburgh International Festival is one of Scotland's must-see cultural events, it has been claimed.
The festival provides a "rich cultural atmosphere" that is unique to the city, according to VisitScotland.
Commenting ahead of this year's festival, set to take place between August 13th and September 5th, VisitScotland regional director for Edinburgh and Lothians Sinead Feltoe said: "Edinburgh is a beautiful historic city with stunning architecture and atmospheric cityscapes and this World Heritage Site really is a must-visit, must-return destination with something for everyone throughout the year."
A number of international festivals have been modelled on the Edinburgh International event, which is widely considered one of the first of its kind.
The festival attracted nearly 400,000 visitors in 2009, some no doubt making cheap calls from their mobile phones to family to tell them about their favourite shows.
The festival is in its 63rd year and has had a total of ten festival directors during that time.
