Cheap international calls: Ghana FA could check Essien injury

The Ghana Football Association has said it might send out its own medical staff to check on Michael Essien's injury.
Ghana will be hoping that the Chelsea midfielder will be fit for at least part of the African Cup of Nations, which kicks off in Angola on January 10th.
Essien injured his hamstring in a Champions League tie for his club, with some reports suggesting that he could be out of action for a couple of months at least.
However, the Ghanaian football authorities have said they are in contact with Chelsea's medical team in order to assess the extent of the player's injury, and are willing to fly out their own expert if necessary.
Several of Ghana's star players have been suffering from injury problems of late, throwing the team's African Cup of Nations campaign into jeopardy.
Stephen Appiah and John Mensah are among the other injury doubts, although the latest reports suggest Mensah is now back in contention to play for his club and should be fit for the international tournament next month.
