Starcomms launches 'world first' international roaming service

A small Nigerian telecoms firm has launched an international roaming service that will enable customers to make international calls from their mobile across GSM networks in other countries.
Starcomms claims to have become the first CDMA network operator to offer its customers international roaming.
More than three million Starcomms customers will be able to take advantage of the service, which will also expand the operator's coverage outside of Nigeria.
The company's chief executive officer, Maher Qubain explained: "The pioneering step of adding inter-standard roaming capabilities to our portfolio as a CDMA network in this country is just more evidence of our practice of always being the first to give the customer the best."
Last month, Starcomms introduced new chat phone handsets that enables users to link with friends and family on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and chat services such as Skype.
