Taliban military chief 'seized in Pakistan'

The Taliban's top military commander has been captured in Pakistan, it is reported.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was apprehended in a joint operation by US and Pakistani intelligence agents, officials from the two countries claimed.
The officials spoke anonymously, stating that he had been captured ten days ago, although the Taliban in Afghanistan has denied the report.
Mullah Baradar is said to be an associate of Osama bin Laden and the second most senior figure in the Taliban after its founder and spiritual leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
The intelligence officials said he was seized as part of an operation carried out in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi.
Earlier this month, senior officials in Pakistan were quoted as saying that the leader of the Taliban in Pakistan, Hakimullah Mehsud, has been killed.
No further details surrounding his death were provided and the Taliban denied the report, although it did not supply evidence that he is still alive.
