Mobile phones hamper memories

People are losing out on the valuable skill of memorising, especially numbers, as mobile phones become increasingly popular to record phone numbers.
In the UK 23 million people cannot recall their partner's cell phone number, while another 30 million have zero idea as to what is their best mate's contact number.
A further 22 million are blissfully unaware about their parents' phone number, according to recent findings published by CPP.
However, the study revealed that people found it relatively easier to recall landline numbers, in comparison to mobile phone numbers.
Michael Lynch from CPP pointed out that mobile phones were literally turning into the people's "lifelines" and this was a very worrying trend.
He said: "Brits' inability to recall numbers of their nearest and dearest means that many could be in a very tricky and distressing situation if their phone is lost or stolen, if they have no idea how to contact someone for help."
