Strikes in Spain could hamper tourism

Travellers planning their holidays abroad could be re-evaluating their plans owing to widespread industrial action affecting air travel in Spain.
Mike Greenacre, managing director of The Co-operative Travel, has pointed out that the actions could have a serious negative impact on the tourism revenues of Spain this year.
He said: "Industrial action at the height of the summer season could put people off booking holidays to Spain as well as have a knock on effect to airlines taking customers to other destinations."
Mr Greenacre claimed there was cause for concern, keeping in mind the problems faced by customers when travelling by air owing to the ash cloud crisis earlier this year.
Airport staff and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works have fallen out with regards to pay increments working conditions causing disputes to escalate into indefinite industrial action.
