Super-loud mobile launched for elderly users

A British company is enjoying success after launching a mobile phone aimed specifically at the elderly and hard of hearing.
Boasting a top volume of 100 decibels, which means its ringing tone will be as loud as a speeding train or pneumatic drill, the Geemarc Clearsound CL8200 has been available on a number of specialist websites over the past few weeks.
And, according to the manufacturer, it is already proving to be a major hit, including with visitors to the official website of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People.
Commenting on the success of the product, the company has explained that the phone, which has an extra-loud speakerphone function that can be set to silent, is a major boon for those people who find normal mobiles too quiet.
"There is a real need for a phone that doesn't look like a disability phone, but which is really simple to use," it stated.
News of the new product comes in the same week that Nokia unveiled its Bicycle Charger Kit, which allows users to make use of pedal power to charge up their handsets.
