Vodafone stalls Desire update

Widespread dissatisfaction among users has forced telecoms provider Vodafone to stall its project of updating users' HTC Desire handsets.
Clients, who use their phones to make cheap calls, complained that following the update handsets had become slow, were receiving duplicate text messages and were also missing message alert tones.
Many customers were also left confused as Vodafone's application update clashed with the roll-out of the Android 2.2 Froyo update.
Speaking to V3.co.uk, a spokesman for Vodafone said: "Vodafone has temporarily suspended the roll-out of the upgrades and is looking into customer reports into the possible impact of the software on device performance."
However, the firm has confirmed that it will continue to go ahead with the Froyo updates.
HTC EVO 4G was the first phone to get the operating system update in Europe, quickly followed by HTC Desire and Motorola's Droid among others.
