Sudanese women 'flogged for wearing trousers'

A number of women have been flogged for wearing trousers in Sudan, according to unconfirmed reports.
Some 13 women are said to have been rounded up by police at a restaurant earlier this month and it is claimed that a couple of days later ten of the women were lashed ten times each.
Now a female UN worker named Lubna Hussein has said she is set to face similar charges in court and could also face a flogging punishment for allegedly breaching Sudanese law by wearing "indecent" clothing.
According to reports, Ms Hussein said: "It is important that people know what is happening. They will lash me 40 times and also fine me 250 Sudanese pounds (£61)."
Meanwhile, a senior UN official has called for more to be done to bolster security and improve ties between Sudan and its neighbours Chad and the Central African Republic.
UN special envoy Victor Angelo said there is a seriously concerning security situation emerging in the border regions.
