Sudan and South Sudan continue to lay blame on one another
Tuesday, Apr 03, 2012 Filed Under :Planet Talk Account News
The conflict between Sudan and South Sudan is yet to abate as the two nations continue to blame each other for cross-border attacks.
During cheap calls to Sudan, it is likely many will discuss the rivalry between both countries as they fail to implement a peace agreement.
South Sudan spokesman Barnaba Marial Benjamin accused Sudan of bombing the southern state in an effort to stave off interest from Chinese and US investors.
Mr Benjamin also claimed that South Sudan closed its oil production because Sudan stole millions of barrels, while raising the transit levy through its pipeline to $36 a barrel, the Associated Press reported.
Reuters quoted Mr Benjamin as saying: “For the last month, [Sudan has] been bombing villages and small towns.
“They are still continuing at random all over Unity State, of course the purpose is [to] sabotage the investment in oil.”
Conversely, Sudan suggested Juba was preventing the marking of the disputed border as it claimed ownership of the Heglig oil field.
