Apple iPhone decrypting patch launched

Apple iPhone enthusiasts who use their phones to store sensitive data, besides making cheap international calls, may reconsider their decision.
Doubts have been recently cast over the data security provided by the Apple iPhone after a Russian firm announced a patch capable of decrypting data stored on the phones.
ElcomSoft is targeting the software towards crime investigators and forensic experts to help them access sensitive information that may have been encrypted onto the phone.
According to V3.co.uk, an official statement from the firm said: "The latest update allows ElcomSoft to grant forensic access to passwords stored in iPhone devices running iOS 4, with known or unknown back-up passwords and without altering the content of the phone."
The news comes soon after German IT officials picked put on a security vulnerability that could leave the iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices open to attacks from hackers.
Apple promptly announced that it had already created a patch to counter the problem but is yet to announce a date for its release.
