Cosmetic surgery has long been in vogue in the likes of Los Angeles and Monaco, but many Brits are now said to be desiring a nip and tuck.
More than a third (37 per cent) of people would happily give a cosmetic treatment as a Christmas gift and 54 per cent would love to receive it, according to a survey carried out by thegoodsurgeonguide.co.uk.
Some 63 per cent of people acknowledged that surgery would exceed their present budget, but seven out of ten respondents admitted they would want to ask a loved one for their desired treatment or a financial contribution.
"The standard scarf or bottle of fragrance is no longer the wish of many people and surgery is becoming popular," commented Christiana Clogg, co-founder of the website.
But she urged people to carry out research to ensure that they have work done by a reputable surgeon.
In other style news, makeup artist at the School of Make-up Amy Boyd is advising fashionistas that the 1920s look will be big this winter, with pale skin, finger-wave hair and red lips set to be in vogue.
