How do Americans use their mobile phones?

In the USA the use of mobile phones is hardly limited to making cheap calls, shows new research.
The study conducted by the Nielsen Company charts out the daily mobile phone activities of Americans.
It was found that users regularly accessed the internet from their mobile phones in order to carry out a large variety of activities.
The most popular of these activities was accessing the email facility, with users spending about 38.5 per cent of their mobile internet time on checking their messages.
Social networking was the second most common activity, with users spending an average of 10.7 per cent of their time visiting these social media sites.
American mobile users also spend 7.2 per cent of their mobile internet usage time catching up on current affairs and events, which was the third most common activity.
