Cheap international calls: Mobile sales 'on the up' for Nokia

Nokia has reported an increase in sales of its mobile phones during the last quarter of 2009.
The mobile phone company sold around 126.9 million mobile devices, which represents a 12 per cent year-on-year increase.
However, this amounted to a decrease in takings, as its net sales of €12 billion (£10.4 billion) were down by five per cent year-on-year, although up 22 per cent on the previous quarter.
Consumers who use their Nokia mobile phones to make cheap international calls through Planet Talk may be interested to note the latest figures, which also show that more than one million application downloads are made each day from the firm's Ovi Store.
Separate data published by research firm Gartner suggests that consumers will spend $6.2 billion (£3.8 billion) in mobile application stores in 2010.
Mobile application stores are expected to exceed 4.5 billion downloads this year, eight out of ten of which will be free for users.
