International calls: Ghana star Essien arrives in Angola

Ghana's Michael Essien has belatedly joined up with his team-mates at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, according to reports.
The Chelsea star is understood to be available for selection for Ghana's encounter with the Ivory Coast on Friday (January 15th), despite earlier worries that he would not be fit and ready to play.
Essien was due to arrive at the tournament on Sunday but the icy weather in the UK delayed his journey - but the good news for the Black Stars is that the midfielder has apparently recovered from a hamstring injury.
Ghana will be hoping that Essien can quickly find his top form at the tournament, as he has not played a competitive match since appearing for his club on December 8th against Apoel Nicosia, when he suffered the injury.
After the eagerly-awaited bout with the Ivory Coast, Ghana's next match will be against Burkina Faso on January 19th.
