Cheap international calls: Mobile sector sees smartphone 'revolution'

News brought to you by Planet Talk - cheap international calls from home, mobile or any phone.
Global sales of smartphones are on the increase, the latest figures suggest.
Smartphone shipments during the fourth quarter of 2009 were 30 per cent higher than in the equivalent period of 2008, according to Strategy Analytics.
The firm said sales were powered by strengthening economic confidence and an improved range of feature-rich models launched by multiple top-tier brands.
People are able to use their smartphones to make cheap international calls, as with all mobile phones, but they also offer an extended range of features to entice the consumer.
Jonathan Morris, editor of What Mobile magazine, believes that the iPhone in particular has "probably helped educate people that they can now expect to do much more than make calls or text".
Consumers are now able to carry out tasks on the move via their smartphones that previously they could only do at home or in the office, he added.
