'Recycling old mobiles will benefit users'

Mobile phone users would benefit from recycling their old handsets, suggests an expert.
Mike Webster, spokesperson for Wastewatch, said it would be a silly waste if people did not recycle their old handsets and left them lying around unused in the house. He added that mobile recycling can also help non-profit organisations and charities.
He explained: "For a start you can get paid for it which is always an encouragement. It's also a great source of income for organisations like charities."
It has been recently claimed by Consumer Focus that British mobile phone users currently own 85 million old, unused handsets.
The survey also found that 68 per cent of those polled had at least one or older cell phones at home. Meanwhile, another 11 per cent claimed to have more than five unused mobile handsets stacked at home.
