Helicopter crashes into New York river

A birthday trip to the US has ended in tragedy after a helicopter plummeted into New York's East River.
In news which is sure to prompt cheap international calls from the UK, British woman Sonia Marra has passed away after the helicopter she was travelling in with her partner and parents crashed into the river.
The group were sightseeing in the USA for Ms Marra's 40th birthday when the private Bell 206 helicopter fell into the river shortly after takeoff.
Ms Marra was British but had lived in Australia for several years with her partner, New Zealander Helen Tamaki. The couple also ran a popular Sydney bar in Newtown.
Emergency crews arrived within seconds of the crash and the pilot escaped unharmed.
Unfortunately rescuers were unable to save Ms Marra, and her mother and partner are both in a critical condition in hospital.
