Eating clay 'harms pregnant women'

Many cheap international calls could be made to Bangladesh after UK scientists have found the nation's traditional practice of eating baked clay could be harming pregnant women.
The clay, known as sikor, is thought to be used for medicinal purposes in Africa and Asia, but scientists have now said that pregnant women who consume it could be putting themselves and their unborn child at risk.
Dr Parvez Haris, head of the Biomedical and Environmental Health group at De Montfort University in Leicester looked at sikor samples from shops in three different UK cities which had been imported from Bangladesh.
Testing revealed that the clay contained toxic elements such as cadmium, arsenic and lead.
This comes after Kevin Harrington, managing director at Global Prepaid Exchange, said that those who travel between countries should use prepaid credit cards for safety.
He explained that a lot of money could be saved on exchange rates and if it is lost, travellers are supplied with an emergency card immediately.
