Man to travel 5,000 miles overland in wheelchair

A Merseyside man who uses a wheelchair is to travel back to Britain from Bangladesh overland in a stunt that may well spark cheap international calls.
Peter Donnelly, 24, has been volunteering in Bangladesh and will undertake the epic 5,000 mile journey to raise money for the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP).
His journey will encompass 14 different countries which will include China, Germany and Russia.
"The first reason I'm doing this is that I am raising money for the CRP, which does an amazing job in one of the poorest countries in the world," he said.
"Secondly, I'm doing it to raise awareness of what can be achieved when using a wheelchair and how everything in your path might not be perfect but it is still possible."
Cheap international calls to Bangladesh may have increased in recently, according to the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, which showed that the number of mobile subscribers in the country increased by 31 per cent in 2010.
