Ghana given the go ahead to compete in London Olympics

Friends and family of Ghanaian nationals may be prompted to make cheap international calls after the country revealed that it is now able to compete in the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended Ghana from entering the competition because of government interference in the Ghana Olympic Committee, but after a meeting of the IOC executive board this has now been lifted.
By changing its sports laws the government is obliged to keep away from Olympic organising, in order to remain compatible with the Olympic Charter.
Clement Kofi Humado, minister of youth and sports, told The Associated Press: "The ministry is relieved by the lifting of the band, since it opens the door of the Olympic movement once more to sports men and women in Ghana."
Ghana has won four Olympic medals in total, including a bronze in men's football in 1992.
