India celebrates 100 year old national anthem

India is celebrating 100 years since its national anthem was first sung in Calcutta.
Jana Gana Mana has proved controversial in the past, with many claiming it is deferential to the British monarchy over the years.
Asian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 - Rabindranath Tagore - first performed the song in the December 1911 Calcutta session of the Indian National Congress.
Tagore, who wrote the song, was the first Asian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
One of the criticisms of the song is that it fails to reflect regional and ethnic divisions across the country.
Speaking to the BBC, Kumar Deepak Das said: "There are insurgency and secessionist movements in the north-east. People there often feel neglected.
"If the Indian government agrees to modify the national anthem, such measures can resolve the feeling of alienation."
The Jana was first adopted as the country's National Anthem on January 24th.
