Pirates hijack oil tanker off Nigerian coast

Pirates have hijacked an oil tanker and its crew off the coast of Nigeria, in a development which is sure to be followed by the making of cheap international calls.
According to the International Maritime Bureau, the tanker is believed to be a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel, which was boarded on Saturday by the pirates.
The attack is reported to have taken place around 90 nautical miles south of Nigeria's economic capital, Lagos and despite being relatively close, few details about the crew members or the nature of the hijacking have emerged, aside from claims that they are OK.
Nigeria is Africa's largest oil producer and its coastline is infamous with pirates hijacking ships loaded with crude oil from the Niger Delta.
