Poland plane crew recognised for rescue efforts

The pilot and cabin crew of a plane which was forced to make an emergency landing in Poland last week have been honoured by the government.
In what is sure to be the subject of numerous cheap international calls, Polish president Bronis?aw Komorowski awarded captain Tadeusz Wrona with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, which is one of the country's highest orders.
The pilot was recognised for his bravery and quick thinking after he safely landed a Lot Polish Airlines Boeing 767 at Warsaw's Chopin Airport on November 1st, after its landing gear failed to deploy.
Co-pilot Jerzy Szwarc and head of the flight deck, Jerzy Konofalski, were both given the Knight's Cross, while other crew, ground and emergency services members were handed the Gold Cross of Merit.
