Single parents 'watching holiday costs'

Single parents are increasingly cutting the budget on their holidays, one commenter has said, with many no doubt making cheap international calls from short haul destinations such as Poland.
Chrissie Lewandowski, partner at SingleWithKids.co.uk, commented that many single parents have left booking their holidays until the very last minute.
However, this trend means disappointment for many, as booking early now tends to reap the best deals.
In addition, the cost of childcare means that many single parents are opting to stay in the UK, taking a number of 'staycations' instead of indulging in one long holiday abroad.
"The recession is biting back and we've found that parents have been exercising financial caution in their choice of holiday - whilst this hasn't deterred families completely from overseas travel, they have been choosing the cheaper options - the easy "bucket & spade" type Mediterranean holidays - over more expensive alternatives," she added.
This follows research by M&S Money which revealed some 40 per cent of British holidaymakers fail to budget properly for their holiday.
