More cheap international calls could be made from the UAE to the UK, as more Brits head to Abu Dhabi for a holiday.
Research by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has revealed a ten per cent rise in hotel guests in the first quarter of 2011, compared to the same time last year.
Additionally, the UK was found to be the top overseas producer of UAE tourists, with 37,710 guests received during the quarter.
Lawrence Franklin, ADTA's director of strategy & policy, said: "Our sterling first quarter performance can be attributed to the dynamic programme of events, both business and leisure, which have taken place in the emirate over the past three months."
This follows news that record numbers of passengers flew to Dubai International 2010, with a 15.3 per cent year on year increase.
Some 47.2 million passengers passed through the airport in 2010, which rose from 2009's 40.9 million.
