UAE pledges peaceful nuclear progress

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that it will continue to develop its peaceful nuclear energy programme to meet the country's growing need for electricity.
In news which is likely to encourage cheap international calls to be made, the UAE will work within the framework for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Ambassador Ahmad Al Jarman, UAE's permanent representative at the United Nations (UN) explained in a statement that "the UAE will continue to take further concrete steps towards developing its peaceful nuclear energy programme in order to meet its growing needs of electricity within the framework of the safeguards and supervision of the IAEA".
Jarman went on to reiterate the UAE's support for the proposal of the Non-Aligned Movement and confirmed its cooperation with reaching an international consensus on the safety of nuclear power and its transportation.
