UAE votes India as top travel destination

Travellers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have voted India as their top future global destinations in a poll which is sure to encourage cheap international calls to be made between the two countries.
Some 27 per cent of respondents said that they would like to visit India, while 23 per cent cited the UK and 20 per cent favoured a trip to Singapore in the Visa Global Travel Intentions Survey 2011.
The results also showed that the global average spend per trip abroad was likely rise by 22 per cent in the next two years.
Factors which influenced global travellers' choice of destination were found to be the availability of good deals, beautiful natural scenery, political stability and generally good weather.
India is a consistently popular travel destination for UAE residents due to its large population of expatriate Indians working in the country and its close proximity and exotic reputation.
