Nigerian Catholics urged to embrace 'peace and love'

Nigeria's Christian population has been urged not to lose faith in the face of the daunting political and economic crisis in the country.
A message presented to delegates at the end of the 8th General Assembly of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos conceded that there is "no doubt" everyone has suffered due to the current crisis.
However, the assembly was urged "not to lose faith in the Almighty God, nor be paralysed by fear and anger".
The message underlined the importance of adhering to Christianity's fundamental teachings concerning tolerance and love, which will undoubtedly have reassured families in the UK making cheap international calls to Nigerian relations.
"We resolve to step up our teaching of the Church on the culture of love. The Church continues to teach love, peace, reconciliation; no matter the cost," the statement read.
According to AllAfrica.com, sections of the Catholic Church have been up in arms about an alleged man-handling incident involving government security officials and Reverend Eustace Okorie.
A public apology has been called for following the alleged incident.
