A senior politician in Pakistan has apparently escaped with a sprained ankle and minor knee injury after a shooting incident in the city of Rawalpindi.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who is the leader of a faction within the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) party, was shot at by men on motorcycles as he left an election office in the Khayaban-e-Sir-Syed neighbourhood, according to reports.
Although he was left with minor injuries, it is stated that at least three other people alongside him, believed to be security guards, were killed in the attack.
Mr Ahmed is a candidate in a by-election in the Rawalpindi constituency, which is currently controlled by a rival PML faction headed by former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
A number of violent attacks against politicians have taken place in the garrison city of Rawalpindi over the years.
Rawalpindi served as the country's capital city when Islamabad was being constructed in the 1960s and remains a major industrial and commercial centre in Pakistan.
