Cheap international calls: Gay rights group critical of Polish educational text

A gay rights group has criticised the publication of a new educational text that it believes will deepen negative attitudes towards gays in the country.
The highly-charged issue will no doubt prove topical conversation between families making cheap international calls to Poland from the UK for a catch-up.
Speaking to Reuters, Association for Diversity spokesperson Przemek Szczeplocki accused the book of being "silent on the problems of homophobia", suggesting that it presents a narrow view of homosexuality usually associated with the Polish Catholic Church.
Mr Szczeplocki told the news agency: "This kind of attitude deepens the lack of acceptance for gays, lesbians and bisexuals and perpetuates a belief that some sexual orientations are weird, and this is hurtful."
Another religious issue made the headlines recently in Poland, with secular Poles disputing the erection of a cross by Christian compatriots outside of the Presidential Palace as a memorial for the late president Lech Kaczynski.
