Indonesian workers leave Saudi Arabia

Some 4,550 illegal Indonesian workers and migrants are to be sent home from Saudi Arabia, a move which is likely to encourage cheap international calls.
The Indonesian consulate general in Jedda, Saudi Arabia has revealed that it has issued travel documents to these illegal migrants during the past month, most of which had ran away from their employers due to poor working conditions or abuse.
Many male migrants were working as drivers, while women were receiving low paid work as maids.
Recently Indonesia imposed a ban on sending migrant workers to Saudi Arabia, following cases of abuse and a lack of legal protection for foreigners.
The Saudi Arabian labour ministry has also revealed that it will be introducing a ceiling on remittances made by foreign migrant workers in order to protect the country's economy.
