Cheap calls: International travel guides available on electronic reader

Lonely Planet is making its travel guides available for Amazon's Kindle e-reader, the publisher has announced.
The Kindle is a small handheld reader which some commentators believe could do for books what the MP3 player did for music, enabling people to download the latest tomes instead of buying a hard copy of the book.
Lonely Planet chief executive officer Matt Goldberg revealed that more than 600 Lonely Planet travel guides are being made available by book or chapter to users of Amazon's Kindle.
"Consumers can now pack as many Lonely Planet guides as they want into Kindle's 10.2 ounces and download new guides wirelessly while travelling around the world," he added.
Kindle enables users to have books delivered wirelessly within a minute to the reader, without the need to connect to a PC, and with no annual contracts or monthly fees.
Amazon claims that the "paper-like" display reads much like a book and does not experience a glare, even in direct sunlight.
