The Buddhist and Pali University has set new standards in international Buddhist education with the opening of a new state-of-the-art educational complex in Homagama, Sri Lanka.
Courses offered at the university range from diplomas to the PhD level in a variety of subjects, including Buddhist philosophy and archaeology, to Pali language and literature since 1982.
The institution is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and provides external examinations through affiliated foreign partner organisations in the UK, the US, Singapore, Germany, Austria and Malaysia.
Admission to the upgraded university is open to both local and foreign students on a competitive basis.
Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa compared the Buddhist and Pali University to Nalanda and Thaksila, the ancient knowledge hubs of Buddhist education in Asia at the complex's opening ceremony.
He said that although education is constantly renewing, the foundation for Buddhist education cannot be changed. The new building provides this traditional educational foundation in a modern learning environment.
Those interested in this field of learning can make cheap international calls to enquire about the courses offered by the esteemed educational institution.
