Sri Lanka visitor numbers 'continue to grow'

Sri Lanka's tourist arrivals since January this year have surpassed year-on-year visitor figures, a revelation which is likely to prompt the dialling of cheap international calls to and from the island nation.
According to Reuters, the number of visitors to Sri Lanka has continued to rise every month since the 25-year civil war ended in May 2009.
Arrivals jumped 34.2 per cent in the first ten months of 2011, compared to figures from 2010 and the government is hoping that this success will continue to boost wages and employment figures.
Revenue from tourism was also shown to have jumped by 48 per cent in the first nine months of this year, according to central bank data.
