Cheap international calls: Mobile phones sector 'driven by younger generation'

Mobile phones are becoming ever more multifunctional to meet the demands of young people, it is believed.
"If you look at the younger generation who have been brought up with the internet, they will say, 'If I can buy apps with my phone, why can't I buy a coffee or a gig ticket?' and they will drive the market," said Steve Reynolds, chairman of the Mobile Data Association.
The industry is realising that mobile phones can now be used for much more than just browsing the internet, making calls and sending texts, he added.
Meanwhile, mobile banking services may be set to grow in popularity, as NatWest Bank recently launched a free banking application, which people can download through the Apple App Store.
The app enables customers to check their account balances and recent transactions and manage their money on the move using their iPhone.
