South Sudan bank chief sacked one month after currency launch

The bank chief of new nation South Sudan has been sacked, just one month after launching the country's currency, in an event likely to be discussed in a plethora of cheap international calls.
South Sudan's president Salva Kiir sacked central bank governor Elijah Malok, but gave no reason for the dismissal.
Mr Malok is to be replaced by his second in command Kornelio Koryom Maylik.
After gaining independence from the north of the country, South Sudan accused the north of sparking economic difficulties by launching a new currency.
In addition, the north blocked an oil shipment from South Sudan, citing a failure to pay custom fees.
It then launched its own currency, which is now sliding against the US dollar, along with that of the north.
South Sudan gained independence last month (July), after some 99 per cent of its citizens voted to separate the region from the richer north.
