Hawaii is still a "dream" holiday destination for Britons, according to a tourism representative.
The destination is especially popular with couples on honeymoons, who make up more than a quarter of all Brits who travel there, said the spokesperson for the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
She stated that it is a "misconception" that Hawaii is especially expensive, especially in view of the fact that the American dollar has been providing "excellent" value for money.
"A holiday to Hawaii is considerably cheaper than visiting Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific for the same length of time," the spokesperson remarked.
She added that a seven-night holiday on Oahu in a three-star property, including flights, is available for around £825.
According to a recent survey carried out by Wanderlust and the Association of Independent Tour Operators, people are feeling more positive about their international travel plans for the year ahead compared to 2009.
Four out of five respondents (83 per cent) are intending to take at least the same number of trips or more in the year ahead, whereas 77 per cent said this in May 2009.
