Bangladesh bans Facebook

Facebook users in Bangladesh have been left with no access to the popular networking site as the government executed a temporary ban on the website.
The action quickly followed suit after caricatures of the country's prime minister, Hasina Wazed, and other politicians were posted on the Facebook website.
Anti-Islamic and anti-social posts made by users across the globe also fuelled the blanket ban.
A series of protests against the decision saw the students of the Dhaka University taking to the streets to make their unhappiness known to the administration.
The Daily Star quoted an anonymous source at the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulations Committee saying that the action was carried out in accordance with decisions taken high-up in the Bangladeshi political hierarchy.
The unknown source added: "The access to Facebook will resume when the operators find a way to block such anti-social contents."
