Cheap calls: Bangladesh film star death - doctors face charges

Six doctors are facing charges in Bangladesh for their alleged actions in relation to the death last year of one of the country's leading film stars.
SM Aslam Talukder - better known as Manna - died on February 17th 2008 after suffering a heart attack.
A special court in Dhaka has now issued six doctors with charges of criminal negligence, after questions were raised about delays in giving the actor treatment when he arrived at the United Hospital complaining of chest pains.
The trial is scheduled to begin on November 1st, in a case which is sure to capture public interest.
Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi film is one of 65 movies competing for the title of best foreign-language picture at the Academy Awards next March.
Beyond the Circle, from director Golam Rabbany Biplob, faces the tricky task of making it into the final shortlist of five as it seeks to spring a surprise by taking the honour.
