A farmer has been named as the top rat catcher in Bangladesh after killing more than 83,000 of the furry rodents over the past nine months.
Mokhairul Islam was presented with a colour television at a ceremony in Dhaka to mark his achievement.
The Bangladeshi authorities launched the annual rat catching competition as part of its efforts to address its rodent problem, with rats said to be destroying 1.5 to two million tonnes of crops each year.
Expressing his pride at bagging the rat catching honour, Mr Islam told the Associated Press: "This is an exciting moment. I will continue to kill them."
Meanwhile, authorities in Bangladesh have ordered an investigation into conditions at Dhaka Zoo following the death of a giraffe there on Wednesday (September 30th).
Reports suggest there are concerns because it is not the first death of a large animal at the zoo in recent months.
