'Cheapest mobile phone in the world' set for Ghana launch

Vodafone says it is launching the world's cheapest mobile phone in a number of countries, including Ghana.
The Vodafone 150, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, will initially be launched in eight African countries plus India and Turkey.
Prices will differ slightly depending on the local market, but Vodafone has indicated that the mobile phone will sell for less than $15 (£9.56).
Increasing numbers of people in developing countries are using mobile phones due to the range of services they offer as well as the fact that landline services in such countries can be scarce.
The latest development may be interesting news for people based in the UK who like to keep in touch with loved ones by making cheap international calls to Ghana through Planet Talk.
Meanwhile, technology experts in the UK have presented a series of anti-theft devices for mobile phones, as part of plans to protect mobile phone users from crimes such as robbery and identity fraud.
The prototypes were developed as part of the Mobile Phone Security Challenge, an initiative from the Home Office Design and Technology Alliance and the Design Council, with support and funding from the Technology Strategy Board.
