A mobile phone launched by Olive Telecom in India will allow users to run their devices on a standard AAA battery.
Like many other handsets, the device is primarily run on a rechargeable Li-ion battery.
However, developers have add an additional feature which will make it easier for families to make international calls from India without worrying about running out of battery.
According to Tech Shout, this innovative reserve battery feature will give the phone the "edge over other competitive entry-level devices".
The website also points out that the phone is still lightweight, although it notes that the reception could be better.
India's mobile phone market is continuing to increase, according to the most recent figures from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
Mobile subscriptions reached 545.05 million in January, with 19.09 million people joining the mobile community throughout the month.
