Ghana 'ready to provide safe sea passage'

Ghana is now prepared to combat illegal activities in its territorial waters, according to defence minister Lieutenant Joseph Henry Smith.
This is due to the arrival of four new ships, which will allow Ghanian officials to better patrol the water's and deter pirates and unlawful smuggling.
Smith said: "Ghana Armed Forces will ensure the country's territorial integrity and provide safe sea passage to all legitimate traffic."
He went on to explain that this will help reduce bunkering, drug trafficking, poaching and pair-trawling.
The four new ships were manufactured in China and have been categorised as "Snake Class Ships" to portray their fierce role in the combat of water threats.
