Research exchange rates before venturing abroad, expert advises

Travellers making cheap international calls about an upcoming vacation to Ghana should ensure they are aware of the price of travel money.
Ed Bowsher, head of consumer finance at lovemoney.com, has said that holidaymakers should ensure they do not spend too much when buying currency.
He advised ordering the cash online and picking it up for the airport bureau for a better rate than going to the foreign exchange stand at the last minute.
In addition, generally choosing a destination where the pound is strong such as Turkey, Thailand and the USA, can save travellers a lot of money.
"If you’re going to need a hire-car while you’re away, make sure you book well in advance as you’ll get a much better rate. You may do even better if you book your car as part of a package with your flight," added the expert.
This follows research from M&S money which revealed that almost a third of holidaymakers believe they will spend more money while on holiday this year, with many speculating this could be due to rising inflation pushing up the cost of living.
