Budget daily on gap year, expert advises

Those making cheap international calls from countries such as Nigeria as part of a gap year should stick to a daily budget, according to one expert.
Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, emphasised the importance of planning ahead when it comes to holiday budgeting, making a daily budget and utilising online banking.
He explained that even overspending by just £5 a day will make a significant dent in finances if it is done repeatedly.
"Cash withdrawals and some backup dollars and euros are the best way to manage your cash, though try to make fewer, bigger withdrawals to cut down on fees, or use a prepaid cash card," added the expert.
This follows research from LV= travel insurance which revealed that the number of Brits embarking on long gap years abroad has decreased by 69 per cent over the past five years.
