Other people's children 'hell on earth' on holiday

When couples jet off to romantic destinations such as the Philippines, the last thing they want to deal with is the behaviour of other peoples' kids, research has indicated, suggesting that naughty children have been the subject of numerous cheap international calls back home.
Research by Thomson Holidays has revealed that one in three adults believe "hell is other people's children on holiday", while 40 per cent say that their own children spoil their own enjoyment of a getaway.
The behaviour of children in the hotel restaurant was a top peeve for over half of those questioned, while 48 per cent said the "general noise and whining" made by children on holiday is irritating.
Thomson Holidays has now launched Thomson Couples, which is an adults-only experience catering to adults who want to enjoy each other's company in a child-free holiday environment.
Luke Gaskins, head of product development at Thomson Holidays, said: "Just as our Family resorts are focused on keeping children entertained, Couples is completely geared to adult relaxation and together time. At a Couples hotel, peace and quiet both come as standard."
